A propaganda foi tão grande que a expectativa era enorme. Talvez o erro foi não ter pedido o menu-degustação, mas as opções, incluindo frango e outros ingredientes sem expressão, entre as três entradas, três pratos e três sobremesas com taças de vinho, 200 pesos, não inspiraram. Além do cardápio que é grande, ainda tinha um seleção especial, que foi o que atraiu a atenção. Correto, com alguns pratos se sobressaindo, entre eles a sobremesa. A pequena casa bem decorada das irmãs Ada and Ebe Concaro, instalada no mezanino do hotel Panamericano, em Buenos Aires, na minha modesta opinião, comparando com restaurantes com estrelas Michelin, é uma pedida bacana, só isso. Lendo a apresentação do cardápio, eu esperava algo diferente.
Do you know the song, My Favorite Things? It was written by Rodgers & Hammerstein and has been recorded by a great many singers – we particularly enjoy Sarah Vaughan’s recording. The song lists some of the singer’s favourite things. Her tastes are very simple, almost like those of Proust’s Maddelaine: “bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings…” The rhyme, the alliterations and the whimsical melody take the listener on a journey into the pleasures of childhood, both heavenly and yet profoundly of the Earth.
We want our menu to be like that song, and so we put it together with a few of our favourite things in mind.
